Palladian Arch Windows in Family Room

The family room features these Palladian Arched windows which we dressed in an embroidered faux silk. A detailed photo shows the goblet pleated heading and the delicate hand-stitched embroidery.

Drapery Detail

This closeup photo reveals the goblet pleated heading and the garnet colored faux silk with a delicate handstitched embroidery. The antique gold drapery rods and pineapple finials complement the decor beautifully!

Today's Design

This is the entrance foyer of the home we did today. The dual staircase is reminiscent of the movie classic, "Gone with the Wind". It peers into the family room which is in the next blog.

March 13, 2007 Photos of Client Dining Room

We just completed this dining room today! It features washed Meditteranean gold walls with custom draperies in Stroheim & Romann's silk stripe fabric in tones of terra cotta/gold/olive on antique gold crackled poles. Sheer pinch-pleated panels underneath to keep the nosy neighbors from peering in! A round radius dining table which expands and contracts to accomodate 4 to 8 people at any given time in a rich mahogany finish. Italianate dining chairs in a delicate brocade pattern complements the table. A wine cabinet houses vintage bottles for upcoming dinners and the homeowner's heirloom Last Supper painting atop it. A burled wood scalloped platter and basket warmify the room. The centerpiece is a crystal vase now holding handpainted decorative balls from the Philippine Islands resembling Easter eggs.

Elegant Glam!

This glam monochromatic room features another major fabric trend-damask-but not your mother's damask! This is a stylish, sophisticated oversized Fortuny-looking damask and they will be everywhere.....on furniture, draperies, headboards, bedding. Its geometric counterpart, the Houndstooth Check, also prevalent was interpreted in a much larger scale by upscale dynamic duo Diamond & Baratta for Lee Jofa fabrics. All of these can be procured through Designers Touch Interiors, LLC! Do you need a home makover? Call today for a consultation at (973) 425-1930 and stop wasting precious time!

Dream Windows

This gracious dining room features faux-finished painted walls, French Doors to the outside balcony and a comfortable table and chairs to sip wine and converse. This heirloom chandalier and the butterfly pleated draperies add to the elegance here. Voulez-vous dejeuner avec moi?

Settees-Hot! Sofas-Not!

Settees such as this one by Holland & Sherry are HOT! Using mohair makes it even HOTTER!It makes sense too, considering three adults will never sit on a sofa together so it's a waste of space. Besides these look much more cozy and inviting, n'est ce pas?

Mediterranean Influence-Barcelona Furniture

Another style direction is the Mediterranean influence which is seen here in both Fremarc's Barcelona collection and custom bench-made, hand-finished Brazilian dining table and chairs.

More Black & White with Emerald!

This showhouse room at the infamous Kips Bay Boys Club was done by Stark designer Sherill Canet again featuring classic black and white but this time with accents of emerald green!

Glam It Up!

Glam it up with a sable faux fur throw and pillows over Beacon Hill's "Peacock Silk-Iced Blue" with "Lucardo Menthe" bullion fringe overskirt. Mixing in antique French Empire chests and a 19th century Italian inlaid wood table with gold ormolu accents gives it sophistication. This is my Harding studio where I spend most of my time working on renovations and makeovers for my clients! They have an extensive (over 50,000) array of English, French, German and Italian fabrics and wallcoverings to pour over with me. Truth is I edit out what is right for them!

Design Trends 2007!

A return to glamour by way of sexy fabrics such as silks, velvets, even faux furs and curvy upholstery, mirrored furniture, and sparkling crystal chandaliers! Elegance with a little glitz for fun!

The simplicity of black and white paired with an accent color such as emerald green or hot pink. This isn't for the faint of heart and generally it's the GenX and GenY crowd who love this look but edgy fashion designer Betsey Johnson's Manhattan apartment is featured in House & Garden's current issue with this color scheme. The furniture above is by Fremarc and can be purchased through DTI. It is also available in a chocolate brown which is also yummy with pink. Just think-chocolate raspberry truffles....but don't eat them, decorate with them! Color-ease rather than calories!
