Christmas at the Breakers

The historic Breakers in Newport, RI is one of the finest examples of American Renaissance architecture and was built in 1895 for Cornelius Vanderbilt. It is now maintained by the Preservation Society of Newport County. Here are the Christmas choir members making a joyful noise! May the Peace of the season be with you and your loved ones!

Welcome to my design studio! Our clients come here to chat about what they envision for their homes. The leopard, cheetah and zebra pillows are faux fur and fun and the rich sable brown throw feels softer than the real thing without hurting one hair on a precious mink's head! Election Day 2008~Patriotic Theme

This is a perfect example of mixing antiques with modern furniture. Century's polished aluminum table juxtaposes beautifully with our client's antique wingback chairs that were re-upholstered in a new patriotic theme of red, silver and blue just in time for America's election of our 44th president Barack Obama!

Dining A Deux!

This wonderful penthouse is set for dining a deux with an eco-friendly hand-carved Balinese "suar" wood table inspired by the bar stools found at Rumjungle restaurant in Las Vegas' Mandalay Bay resort. The round custom rug anchors the space around the table echoing the punchy red and blue accent colors. These unique, comfortable chairs are beautifully shaped and bring a sophistication to the space! Our client was quite pleased with the results.

Monthly Meet and Greets!

We will be hosting our monthly meet and greet for November on Friday, November 7th between 7pm-9pm in the design studio. Please bring any dilemma or project that has you in a quandry and we will be glad to help you find a solution. Magazine clippings, photographs and any visual idea you have will be used to make vision boards for your design project. Even though you may not be doing this right now at least you will have a direction to go in when you are ready.

Color Forecasts 2008!

This sleekly designed custom upholstered headboard in heavenly blue is deeply tufted and a perfect repose from the toile wallpaper and fabrics. Blue, red and yellow are the Color Council's 2008 projected colors! Both deeply spiritual and patriotic, blue is the favorite color of the majority of Americans since the Colonial times. Red is the color of strength and passion. Psychologists and feng shui practitioners alike agree that red is a very stimulating and positive color! Living with Style and Practicality!

One of my client's family room was painted in a tri-colored wash of gold/terracotta/cream by my decorative painter to provide the backdrop for the Frank Lloyd Wright inspired furnishings. My workroom fabricated the triple arch cornice based upon my design utilizing a botanical print fabric in golds, terracottas and greens on a cream background. The solidly hand-crafted Cherry tables are from American manufacturer Thomas Moser Cabinetmakers through DTI. Very stylish yet practical easy living!

Bay window shutters are the answer to control light and privacy issues while still maintaining the integrity of the architectural elements.
