Madame de Pompadour as she was known had a penchant for interior design which she brought to the Palace of Versailles and The Petite Trianon. Her trellis designed wallpaper (fleuretted treillage) & architectural mouldings were embossed with 24k gold. The framed canopied bed acted to keep in warmth from the drafty palace~the fleur-de-lys (popular iris flower) motif is prominent in the ceiling rotunda. It is rather museum-like with the chairs pushed up against the walls as was customary at the time.

Boudoir of Marie Antoinette
This is the boudoir of the infamous Marie Antoinette~lover of King Louis XV of 18th Century France.
