Venice and Tokyo Inspired Murals

Detail of Venetian-themed powder room featuring this mural done by Sullivan. This was inspired by Canaletto's works and features glazed mouldings and trompe l'oeil (literally means fool the eye) chair rail and panels.
This beautiful wall mural was done by my fine art muralist, Charlotte Sullivan. The attention to detail is exquisite!

This is my new studio in Harding township, Morris County NJ which is in the northwest section of the state. This is my showroom where you can see my custom benchmade trademarked Teri B. designs' "Sumptiously Sexy Silk Sofa" in Beacon Hill exlusive fabric "Peacock Silk in Iced Blue" with "Lucardo Menthe" bullion fringe trimming at the box pleated skirt line. A lawson back (slightly hidden by faux Sable Brown fur throw and pillows) and dressmaker pleated arms give this amazing style while the down-filled seat and back cushions provide amazing comfort! The 1930's empire chest (one of a pair I bought at auction) is made of bird's eye maple burl with brass ormolu lion's heads and laurel wreaths. The Italian walnut table circa 1900 features inlaid wood known as marquetry in an intricate pattern. The mirror is reflecting a custom designed Chinese pagoda cornice in an F. Schumacher/Greeff exclusive fabric "Chinese Vases in color Crimson". Sofa ranges from $4,500 to $8,000 and up. $5,750 as shown here. Copyright 2007-Theresa L. Here are two more views of the renovated Pennington family room of a retired surgeon and his wife. They raised their 4 children in this house and now have 5 grandchildren who play in this room so I suggested a leather sofa for easy maintenance. Joe likes to read so I got him a handsome recliner with a textured woven leaf pattern to compliment the Tufenkian Tibetan carpet. I hired local cabinetmakers to fabricate the corner media armoire and built-in shelving units that flank the sofa. Hunter-Douglas Silhouettes were specified for light control and privacy. For extra seating, I had my upholsterer custom fabricate two benches with a smart but stylish herringbone fabric. Joe's painting hang on the walls. All furnishings procured by DTI. Copyright 2007

My clients, a retired surgeon and his wife hired me to renovate their claustrophobic , dark-paneled family room along with the adjacent dining room, kitchen and laundry room for their home in Pennington, NJ. These photos portray the successful transition between the dated room and now. Not only did I suggest removing the ceiling beams and dark paneling, but we "borrowed" space from above the adjacent garage to open up the ceiling and vault it with brand new skylights to allow in maximum sunlight on those cold Northeastern winter days.

Custom Designed Comfy Lounge Chair by Teri B.

My own trademarked "Teri B. Comfy Lounge Chair" was inspired by my need to marry smart looks with very comfortable seating after a long day at work! The sides seem to envelop you in it's arms and invite you to rest awhile. The pear Italian silk velvet looks gorgeous with browns, blues, and mulberries. It seems to fit an average sized frame like mine like a glove! The modern edgy design can fit in well with today's more classic, pared -down transitional style that works so well for many of my clients!

Again, we can cover your chair in silk or linen velvets, mohairs or textured tweeds for a masculine appeal. My favorite fabric at the moment is Houndstooth Check, both oversized and regular. The oversized design gives the fabric a fresher more updated look!

The approximate cost of this chair ranges from $3,500 - $6,000 and up depending upon the fabric you choose.

Custom Furniture Designs by Teri B.

My trademarked Teri B. "Repose" custom designed chair is right at home with antiques or casual living. It features a deeply tufted and ergonomically correct back with a crowned down-filled seat cushion. Can you say "aaaaahhhh" as you lift your feet up on the coordinating ottoman (shown in a separate post) to relax and dream for a moment or two? The hand-hammered nail heads are attached separately which is the hallmark of quality benchmade furniture.

This was designed with an F. Schumacher Paisley woven fabric on the back and seat and a gorgeous Italian Mohair on the back and sides. I can design one for you today in any of our 250,000 assorted fabrics from all over the globe including Italy and the UK! Delivery usually takes 4-6 weeks providing material is in stock or readily available.

This chair is approximately $3,600 as shown. Prices can range from $2,500 to $5,600 and up, depending upon the fabric you choose. This does not include delivery. Local charges apply.

This estate home is one of many I've done over the past 23 years! This is new construction built in the style of an English Country Manor house. It combines a stone fascia with Palladian arched windows and doorways and Moorish accents. Definitely eclectic but lovely architecture nonetheless!
My clients who are returning back to Texas after many years in NJ, emailed me that they broke ground this week. They've invited me out for the housewarming. Isn't that delightful? I've made many enduring relationships along the way.

Tia's Bedroom

The Olde Worlde flavor of this bedroom in a newly constructed home is achieved by the antique armoire, wrought iron bed and the silk balloon shade and accompanying bespoke draperies. The fine art is a piece by Degas of ballerinas dancing together. Believe it or not, I did this for a 5 year old girl named "Princess" Tia. See the doll up on the armoire. Rather than give the room a childish feel she would outgrow, I chose to make her feel like a Princess, every young lady's dream!

Venetian Powder Room

This mural done by my fine mural artist, Joseph Brown, is actually a powder room, albeit grande'! If you look closely you will see the mirror, sconces and vanity, albeit elegant. You can almost feel the water surrounding you. His attention to detail is par excellence bar none.

Mendham Country Estate

My clients' Mendham Country Estate was published in Design NJ Magazine and the subject of my video for HGTV. It also serves as my advertorial postcard:

Just so you know, this is me. I've been doing Interior Design and Decoration for over 23 years now and am celebrating my 15th Anniversary of Designers Touch Interiors, LLC the firm I founded-yes, the buck stops here! I am in the process of designing my own line of furniture, teach at the college and feel blessed that I have the privilege of helping folks turn their houses into homes on a daily basis. Design is my passion and I was the kid with the 128 count box of Crayolas. I graduated with my Bachelor of Fine Arts from New York University and was valdedictorian of my class at Mercer County College. During high school, I won several awards in the NJ Teen Arts Festival for my artwork and music. My work has been published in Design New Jersey magazine and I participated in the design competition at HGTV's "Design Star". I live here in NJ with my husband of 16 years and our family. Please feel free to email or phone me with any comments or questions you may have. Warm wishes to everyone for a healthy and prosperous New Year!

Just another view of this warm and inviting country dining room! Designers Touch Interiors specializes in making every room "family friendly" yet special enough for your favorite company!

Here's the country dining room where everybody is welcome! The Mediterranean inspired sun-drenched walls play backdrop to the lively Provence/Tuscany fabric for the banded valance and side panels in this window seat. The sheer balloon curtains underneath provide a bit of privacy and are smartly tied up with the banding fabric! Dejeuner-vous?
This lovely and cozy country family room begs you to come and sit while my client's 12 year old son serenades you on the piano. My clients have four children, a dog and several birds so if you think this room is not for living, it's just not so!

Another wall of elegant windows in this his and hers office. My clients wanted it to be inviting and comfortable, not just functional!

A Country Home in Califon, NJ

This elegant office in the country home of my good clients in the rolling hills of Hunterdon county is just one of the rooms we completed today!

This gorgeous Bernardsville, NJ living room is elegant but easy on the eyes with the pool blue walls and oceanic silk draperies custom made by Designers Touch Interiors professional workroom. The method of Italian stringing is applied here on Goblet pleated tops. I used Silhouette shadings to control the light and privacy. The homeowner's antique Empire period chest features burled wood and ormolu swags-a piece par excellence!
